Patient satisfaction with GP services remains high

Primary tabs

Patient satisfaction with GP services, included practices, individual GPs and appointment booking, remains at a high level according to a recently published patient survey. Covering the period from January to September 2014, the results saw 85% of patients rating their GP practice as good, while 78% would recommend it to someone moving to the area. Despite a negligible decline on last year’s satisfaction rates, the vast majority of patients (92%) have confidence and trust in the last GP they saw.

The majority of patients were able to see or speak to a professional at their surgery when they last enquired; this saw a 0.7% decrease to 85.4% on last year’s figures. However, over three quarters of patients said they were happy with surgery opening hours, and around nine out of ten patients who were able to book an appointment with their last enquiry (91.8%) considered it convenient.

Similarly, satisfaction with out-of-hours GP services has remained high, with the number of patients who have tried to call such a service in the past six months rating their experience as good increasing by 0.4% to 67.9%.
